What is Stainless Steel Flat Bar?
Stainless steel flat bar is a long, rectangular-shaped solid bar with a flat cross-section. It is produced by hot rolling or cold rolling and is available in a wide range of widths and thicknesses. Flat bars are commonly used as structural components, reinforcement strips, and decorative trim.
Process Overview
Stainless steel flat bars are produced through hot rolling. Stainless steel billets are heated and passed through rolling mills to achieve the desired rectangular cross-section. After rolling, the bars are cooled, straightened, and cut to length. The surface is then pickled to remove oxide scale, resulting in a uniform matte gray finish (No.1 finish). For decorative or precision applications, additional cold rolling, polishing, or brushing can be applied.

Stainless steel can be magnetic depending on its internal structure. Austenitic grades like 304 and 316 are normally non-magnetic, but ferritic (430) and martensitic (410) grades are magnetic due to their different crystal structure. Even 304 or 316 may become slightly magnetic after cold working such as bending or stamping, which transforms some austenite into martensite. Therefore, magnetism does not indicate quality — it simply reflects the steel's microstructure and processing history.
For standard materials and sizes held in stock, delivery is guaranteed within 3 days of payment receipt. For products requiring custom dimensions or surface finishes, the lead time is 7 to 15 working days after payment confirmation. Specific delivery schedules should be confirmed with customer service at the time of order placement.
A substantial inventory is maintained to ensure prompt delivery. Stock availability varies by material grade and dimensions. To avoid potential delays, please confirm current stock levels with your sales representative prior to placing an order.
Applicable product standards must be specified at the time of order. For projects with specific technical requirements, please provide detailed parameters, tolerance ranges, and other relevant specifications. A dedicated quality inspection department oversees all stages of production to ensure full compliance. Upon completion, accurate measurements, inspection images, video documentation, and material test reports are provided for customer confirmation.

Custom markings on outer packaging are available upon request at no additional cost. Once the marking design is approved, it will be affixed using waterproof tape. If no specific marking is requested, packaging will be shipped without markings by default.
Material grade, dimensions, and other identifying information may be spray-marked directly onto the steel plate surface upon request. For applicable charges, please consult your sales representative.
Standard wooden pallet packaging is provided at no extra cost, with a loading capacity of 1 to 3 tons per pallet. Alternative packaging options, such as iron pallets, are available upon request. Please contact your sales representative for details — bulk orders qualify for preferential pricing.
We maintain partnerships with multiple freight forwarders to offer competitive land, air, and sea freight options. If you have a preferred freight forwarder, we can arrange delivery to your agent's warehouse or to the designated port of shipment.
Factory inspections and product inspections are fully supported. Customers are welcome to visit our facility for in-person inspections. Alternatively, third-party inspection agencies, including SGS, may be arranged to conduct on‑site inspections.
